Congresswoman Kimberlyn King-Hinds began serving as the U.S. Representative for the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands on January 3, 2025. She is the second person to hold this office and the first woman from the CNMI to represent the Commonwealth in Congress.

Born and raised on Tinian, Congresswoman King-Hinds brings a deep connection to the people, culture, and priorities of the Northern Marianas. She earned her Juris Doctor degree and Native Hawaiian Law Certificate from the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii. She also holds a Master of Human Resource Management with honors and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Loyola Marymount University.

Before her election to Congress, Congresswoman King-Hinds practiced law for more than a decade as a licensed attorney in Hawaii and the CNMI, with experience in family law, probate, and civil litigation. She also served as Legal Counsel for the Tinian Mayor’s Office and In-House Counsel for the NMI Settlement Fund.

Her public service includes leadership as Chair of the Commonwealth Ports Authority, where she helped lead major negotiations, including the Divert lease agreement with the U.S. Department of Defense. She also served as Chair of the Northern Marianas College Board of Regents and as a member of the Commonwealth Public Utilities Commission.

In Congress, she is focused on strengthening the CNMI’s economy by expanding access to U.S. Small Business Administration resources, improving transportation options, and advancing workforce development. She is committed to helping local entrepreneurs and small business owners access federal tools such as capital, technical assistance, contracting opportunities, and disaster recovery support, so they can grow and contribute to a more resilient local economy. She is also committed to supporting veterans by addressing long-standing healthcare challenges and advocating for a more permanent veterans healthcare facility in the CNMI, ensuring that those who served have better access to care closer to home.

Her work is grounded in a simple commitment: to strengthen the CNMI, expand opportunity, and ensure the voices of the Marianas are heard in Washington, D.C.
