Session #9: Reimagining Canada’s Pacific Coast Container Network

Zoran Knezevic of the Port Alberni Port Authority will introduce the Port Alberni Transshipment Hub (PATH), a proposed next-generation container terminal designed to strengthen Canada’s Pacific Gateway. Located in Alberni Inlet on Vancouver Island, PATH would accommodate ultra-large container vessels and distribute cargo to regional ports through a hub-and-spoke network of feeder barges and other transportation connections. The presentation will explore how the project could increase supply-chain capacity and resilience, reduce congestion at existing ports and on regional roadways, and create new economic opportunities for Vancouver Island and the broader Pacific Northwest.
